SUMMARY:Plant Paddle with PCSWCD\, Friends of Wilson Ponds & Lake Stewards of Maine
DESCRIPTION:Piscataquis County Soil & Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) will be partnering with Friends of Wilson Pond and Lake Stewards of Maine to host an invasive plant paddle on Sawyer Pond in Greenville on August 1st from 4:30-7pm. PCSWCD serves as a resource hub for Maine Lake's LakeSmart program - a free program offered state-wide\, which helps waterfront property owners protect the beloved lakes and ponds they live on. LakeSmart offers education\, easy\, low-cost solutions to addressing soil erosion and so much more to waterfront property owners. Anyone who lives near our precious water resources in Piscataquis County (Sebec lake\, Moosehead Lake\, Whetstone Pond\, Schoodic Lake - to name a few) should strongly consider reaching out for an evaluation. This year we are taking our efforts to protect Maine's lakes and ponds one step further and getting right on the water with the Plant Paddle event! Lake Stewards of Maine will be instructing this fun and interactive approach to identifying invasive plant species. Additionally\, we will be joined by Friends of Wilson Pond on our trip around Sawyer Pond and will enjoy a potluck BBQ before we set out on our paddle. Don't have a canoe or kayak? No problem! There are plenty to share! Space for the Plant Paddle is limited so please register soon. There is a small fee associated with the event.
