Piscataquis County offers many memorable events, fairs and festivals throughout the year. Events kick-off in the spring with the Annual (Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis-sponsored) Piscataquis River Race from Guilford to Dover-Foxcroft. June ushers in warmer weather and festivals such as Milo’s Black Fly Festival and Dover-Foxcroft’s beloved Whoopie Pie Festival (penned “Maine’s Sweetest Festival”), followed by the Piscataquis RiverFestival, held in Guilford in July. Right before the start of the new school year, families and children can enjoy the Piscataquis County Fair, held on the fairgrounds in Dover Foxcroft.

Krystal Light Gallery & Salon is hosting a classical and folk music festival/series throughout July and August. Opening night, 7/5/24, will feature Olga Zhuravel Maselli performing favorite opera arias. There will be visiting NY based Russian classical pianist, Alexander Chaplinsky, folk performer, Stuart Tisdale, local musicians including, the newly formed ensemble, On the Light Side Orchestra, as well as tributes to folk musicians Bob Dylan and Phil Oches.

Sebec Lake Association will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, July 13 at 9:30 am. We will have a guest from the Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District speaking about LakeSmart, a free educational program on what camp owners can do to minimize the risk of chemical runoff into the lake.
